
Deputy Regional Manager
We are a start up dedicated to increasing 600 million smallholder farmers’ income in Sub-Saharan Africa. Over 70% of the working population is employed in the agriculture sector – smallholder farmers. We believe there is no development in Africa without the development of farmers. We provide a full package for such farmers to enable productive & lucrative farming while visualizing their potential with technology. Our journey has just begun, and we aim to triple the income of 30 million farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.
The Role
Degas Ghana Limited is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Regional Manager to join our Operations team at Degas. Reporting to the Regional Manager, your primary focus will be on assisting the Regional Manager in achieving KPI of the operational areas. To manage a range of responsibilities related to overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the region.
Responsibilties

Assist in the making of important policy, planning, and strategy decisions.

Assist in the development, implementation and review operational policies and procedures.

Assist HR with recruiting the Operations team necessary.

Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.

Oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing.

Work with management to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.

Soil management, Crop management, Nutritional management, Pre and post harvest management etc

Implementation of GAP practices, coordination with farmers, training etc

Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.

Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.

Support worker communication with the management team.

Ensure accurate, timely and regular data collection of all operational activities within the assigned territory

Ensure increased productivity/yield significantly within the assigned territory by conducting research with a problem solving approach and recommend appropriate interventions to management.

Coordinate all the activities of coordinators within the assigned community from scheduling, monitoring, auditing and reporting to the operations management team
Requirements

Strong network with smallholder farmers in rural communities

Knowledge in using digital tools and enumerators for data collection

Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.

Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.

Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.

Experience in the field of agronomy preferably a minimum of Degree in Agriculture, Development management, Economics with 3+ years of experience in similar role
